Calling all who need a relief on a Friday, or any day for that matter, from the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s tucked away ever so neatly, I”m almost positive, if your not looking for it, you have probably passed this tasty nugget located in Montclair, NJ. And Although the outside is very authentic looking, nothing can prepare you for the transformation from America to Cuba when enter the restaurant the walkway to the restaurant. The palm trees that cover your head in the walkway, and the scattered coconuts everywhere. The water that trickles down the wall made of stone all help to bring Cuban Pete’s to life, and this is only the OUTSIDE! When you enter the restaurant, the decor is equally as intriguing, from the ceiling fans to the tastefully worn wood tables, finally your ready to do what you came to do… EAT!

Cuban Pete’s menu is full of Cuban delicacies. (**However, if you are not a pork eater, this eatery may not be the best choice for you**) The Tapas are oh so delish!! One of my fav’s off of the Tapas menu is the Goat cheese and Fritters (Hazelnut stuffed goat cheese w/ sweet honey vinagrette). With every bite, there is an even balance of all of the ingredients, and the sweet honey vinagrette gives it just the kick it needs! Another fav would have to be the Papita de Rellenas ( Cuban stuffed beef potato dumplings). Yummy, yummy!! I just couldn’t wait for the main course! My guest dined on Pollo Tropicana (Chicken) and I dined Carne Con Papas (Stewed Beef), and then we discussed the taste of the food. We both agreed that although the food was rather tasty, and very filling, honestly, was just…average… 8^(. Nothing more, nothing less, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just, I don’t know, I just expected more. The presentation was on point though. 8^P Now, as for dessert….I could have ordered two of everything!! LOL 8^D
Either way, at Cuban Pete’s you can’t lose!! It is a great place for a girls night out, kickin’ it with the fella’s or a first date, and most importantly, it is well priced ($$) hehe. So, whenever you’re in town and you’re feeling Cuban, stop by!!
This restaurant gets a B-.
