Yesterday, while doing laundry, I actually watched the News. Seldom do I do so because of the fear and selective (mis)information it brings, nonetheless, a very disturbing story caught my attention. There was a video recording posted on a fairly ignorant site, whose name I’ll choose to keep to myself for the sake for it being my personal view, showing a young man being stripped and then beat repeatedly with a belt. I have not felt so infuriated and disgusted in a some time.

What is the world coming to? What are we becoming? I wouldn’t do the injustice a favor and label the act Animalistic, it is pure wickedness.

Have we not learned from our own Ancestry that beating someone to satisfy your crooked perception of power is truthfully weak?

Why is that millions of people can (intentionally) stomach watching another individual endure pain and torture and feel no other way BUT sick?

Has the media numbed us that much?

We  have gone so far astray from the essence of our own Soul so much so, we can not be grounded enough to see another persons life as just that.

When are we going to wake up people?!

Will we remain silent and allow only the whispers of violence to encourage those who evidently know NO better?

We are at an All or Nothing point in this world. We have no interest in getting to know ourselves, insisting on being taught “Black History” by other people and even tolerating the term and it’s definition alone! More bothersome, is the fact that all of this “history” is teaching our children that we were slaves and just that. Who is in turn teaching these children self-esteem and to find their Higher-Self? Do you know what and who you come from to do so? Who is going to lead the children and the people, if it isn’t us? We are the Power generation. We are also the generation who shuns and NEGLECTS Africa, as if adding “American” at the end of a given nationality makes us another (better) people. Most people don’t even associate prosperity with Africa, let alone beauty. How did it get that way then? Do you think all of existence, as we know it, came about and Africa was in Day 1 as it is depicted? We are the children who have been force-fed images of what beauty is supposed to be, none of those images portraying our great grandmothers-mothers features, or the crafts of our Great-Great Grandfathers, inevitably creating subconscious hatred towards ourselves.

We are the children of the elders who were told their ‘Savior’ was of man, of description, something and nothing like them, at the same damn time!

What are we feeding the future?

Are we reminding them that they are so much more than the “Projects” they grow up in. It is called a Project for Souls’ sake!

When will we open our eyes, or could be the lie is easier on the prize?

We have a very bad habit of praising things and people outside of ourselves; hoping, one day, someone or something will save us all and the way things are. Will we dwell aimlessly in this world until? Take a look at the world around you. Take a look at yourself.

Where are we going?

Why is it everyone (seems) to care more about if a song was sung live more than the actual words said at the Inauguration?

Do you know what the Inauguration was about? Do you know the purpose of the ceremony?

Are you aware of the action(s) those words will provoke, and how they will affect your life and the lives of generations to come?

Here’s the thing…

We live under a system of absolute control. Our rights are written for us, and proposed as freedom, yet we’d rather make fuss over a song that really means nothing to our current state (of being).

Needless to say…

Time flies, whether you’re having fun or not! Just a gentle reminder to myself and you all.

It has been a while since my last post.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all! I hope the Universe has been kind to you.

Me, well…

I have been doing tons of reflecting, self discovery, and overall pondering direction. I am always thinking!

Aware of many things, I constantly contradict my own knowledge. Knowing that all is temporary, I seek purpose, but without being grounded.

I’ve learned that is the issue… for me at least. It is best to simply, “be”. Nothing more, nothing less. There lies receptivity, acceptance, and thankfully, clarity. We must ground ourselves enough to keep present, meanwhile acting, loving and existing, like nothing lasts forever, because…  it doesn’t.

That to me is the hardest pill to swallow.

You may be coherent of the temporary and turn cold, or, over analyze your possession and go about in haze.

To be grounded is the key.

I am not necessarily the resolution type, BUT I did vow to myself a few things going forward:

1) Make well with your time.

2) Do what you want. You will, if that’s truly want you want.

3) KNOW what you want and know yourself. That is the only way through.

4) Thoughts become things. All thoughts. Take heed to what you are thinking.

    Simply put, “As within, so without.”!

 

I have not stopped writing since my last post.

I disconnected, for lack of a better word, not noticing I was keeping myself and my words from the world. The Internet is a big place, and when I post these words, who knows where they REALLY go. I just hope they reach the right parts!

With that said, I am glad to be back on and posting pieces that we can all enjoy and most importantly, provoke self. Self -Love, Self-Awareness, Self-Knowledge, etc.

As you read this article, please take the time to see past any emotion of hate, for the very reason I am writing this is that very emotion acted out so effortlessly.

Decades after Segregation, this country has yet to see there is only one race, the human race. It is evident we, the people, still lack morality and compassion for the lives of one another; proving so every day, with lives taken by those who did not give them, as well as knowledge of these crimes and not voicing how unjust and unnecessary it is.

Seeing this happen and not speaking up is just as bad as being the person(s) behind the trigger.

Thinking nonchalantly toward a crime that does not hit close to home is naïve. In all actuality, we are all connected and the wrath of any action exists amongst us all, whether we realize it or not.

Violence alone is low and intolerable, needless crimes due to creed, color, gender and any other barrier created to keep us from believing we are one are even worse.

With much respect to everyone bringing people together in moments of silence, here are words that need to be heard, not to be uttered nor dismissed, but to ignite justice and burn away lies spoken, revealing in the ash of hatred… truth.

You can search countless articles and audio referring to the Trayvon Martin case, my duty here is not to inform or to cause speculation, but to speak on what is so righteously being eradicated.

This is a case of racism, a crime of expecting, NOT suspecting.

As much as it pains me to say so, sugar-coating things will not help.

It is almost surreal seeing several articles include the fact that Martin was suspended at the time of the incident, mentioned in such a way it seemed as if it were a key factor in him being gunned down. I do understand that some details are given to aid in illustrating what seems to be a person’s character: however, that, to me, takes away from the fact he was innocently gunned down and adding to the hysteria of the “hooded black male”. Alongside his suspension, I quivered while reading in another article:

 “Zimmerman’s attorney Craig Sonner tells ABC News that Zimmerman is not a racist, and that his client has received numerous calls and threats.

The Black Panthers put up a $10,000 bounty for Zimmerman’s “capture.””

No professor, but I know Psychology when I see it.

Who is being addressed as the victim here?

No coincidence the Black Panther allegation follows a statement saying Zimmerman has been receiving calls and threats. That being at the end of the statement is conditioning through information. Seeming to confirm and support the fear of the “Black” male in America.

Symbolism and Stereotypes birth a lot of fears, especially the fear of another race or sect.

Racial issues have always boiled down to “Black” or “White”, in between, other races experience stereotyping, more so than racism. There is a difference. Again, this is my opinion.

One not being any better than the other, however, it is evident that racism tends to go a long way, as we see in this case.

We see in commercials, movies, videos, ads, etc., that hoodies and dark clothing are often associated with burglary, and the ugly truth is, dark(er) skin too.

How is it Zimmerman’s guilt is up for question, when not only was Martin weaponless but Zimmerman was armed at the time? Where is the logic in believing he was threatened or attacked in any way, when it was Zimmerman who adamantly followed Martin by foot and vehicle?

Who is the AGGRESSOR here?

This country has a way of blurring the lines so much, that people lose sight of the bigger picture.

I am sure other details will come about, that will probably have little-to-no pertinence in the actual matter at hand!

The lack of morality needs to end!

The last thing I vouch for is a race war. We, the human race, need to find a way to put justice into justice. We, the people, have this power! Stand up for yourself, for your brothers and sisters and for THE FUTURE. We have sat and allowed laws to be written without question, followed the “rules” without revolting and allowed the system we live by to be the very system we die by.

PLEASE TAKE A STAND.

Trayvon is your neighbor, your cousin, your son, your nephew, a young man who has been defined before his birth … Trayvon is YOU, and he is ME and every person who is labeled in this food chain, known as America. Do you believe this is the land of the free? Trayvon has unfortunately died an example that the marks of the chains our ancestors wore have left indents in all of our lives.

It is not us versus them but us versus us and the lack of togetherness.

Voices up and Guns down.

Come together for the sake of peace, love and every male of color who innocently wears a Hoodie.

They say, “Everything that glitters ain’t gold…”…

and I say, “Everyone who is a celebrity isn’t a role model… “.

Artists in the entertainment industry are just that, artists. Often with stage names, their art can be different from who they are as a person.

I think we all forget to see past the stage and into the eyes of beings who are human, who are just like we are, but on a different path. The pressure to put forth their art while walking on egg shells for the sake of reputation and influence is something serious.

Has society put the pressure on them to do so?

Let’s take Chris Brown and Rihanna for examination…

You may be tired of hearing about them, and I was too, simply because what needed to be said has yet to be spoken, written or televised.

Let’s make this clear, I am not for domestic violence, or any form of violence. I like to believe I am logical when need be and most of all, fair.

Moving on…

We all know of their incident some time ago, which has constantly been bought back to the forefront, especially when Chris seems to be doing or TRYING to do him and/or his work, music and entertainment.

Chris has constantly been provoked if you ask me. It is almost as if people want to bring lower vibrations out of him; both anger and rashness, the same vibrations they bashed and ridiculed him for acting out.

Chris and Rihanna are both in their 20’s, the years we’re typically told are the times we’ll live and learn, find ourselves and all the other hurdles that come with maturity. Why does it seems both Chris and Rihanna were stripped of this? No? Is it because they happen to be in the spotlight? That makes the pressure of your 20’s a bit rougher if you ask me.

Almost as if time doesn’t exist, like they’re not living by age, but by lifestyle.

When media got hold of what seemed to be a forgiving Rihanna, after (allegedly) staying in Miami with Chris not too long after their pow-wow, they began to come at her for not being a positive influence for females who look up to her, as well as not taking a stance against domestic violence.

How typical is this though? This,  being  couples of ALL ages going through different disputes, unfortunately some being physical, and then getting back together? Why were they chastised to such degrees? And if anyone feels so adamant about ANYTHING in this world, why wait for something to happen for any voice to rise other than your own? Why not stand up for what you believe in, firmly? Why knock those who do not? Instead, hope that you influence them to do so. If you do ridicule others for not acknowledging or rallying the cause, are you putting more of your energy into people who do not care versus gathering the voices of those who do?

There is always work to be done.

What either party said or did will never be known in its complete truth, only they were there. That is not my place to say who is what and why. What I will say is, WE are, as parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, mentors, neighbors, etc.,  here with the young men and young women the media is worried will be improperly influenced.

It is OUR duty to make sure that the youth can and will decipher entertainment and influence.

Just as we go to our jobs, and more times than not, “act accordingly”, these artists do the same. That is their job, their means of income; it is what they do… entertain. That does not necessarily include truth in image, or lyrics for that matter.

Being in the Spotlight does not make them Saviors of OUR children.

Granted, people would be ecstatic to see artists take a stance and to use their power in such a way (which some do); however, it does not make them any less of a person because they stuck to doing their job… entertaining.

I find it interesting and amusing how people gravitate to the drama as much as the reunion. What about what’s in between?

We, as a people, have to learn and make habits of seeing the glass half full AND half empty, understanding the better in it being BOTH ways. Whether siding with optimism or pessimism in the situation, being able to possess a roundabout view of things!

This is the beauty of criticism.

You, the criticizer, can take what you do not necessarily honor or agree with and then present a different view, not to be deemed right or wrong, but perhaps a better or simply… more comprehensive way to view things.

Point being, expecting seems to be the issue.

Let us bring up our youth in a manner that allows them to be armed, not shielded, in the many situations life will present to them. Armed in such a way that they can decipher the “either/or” in circumstances, from their backyards to the media…

IT TAKES A VILLAGE.

These are some of the things that make me wonder and go hmmm.  These two should just drop the act and continue where they left off with their puppy love. Its quite clear that they would love to be back together.

Things have change, and the babies are a bit older and we can assume they have learn something from their past mistakes of being young.  Ever since their separation from the physical abuse that Chris Brown put on Riri, these two have come a long way on top against the rest world propelling in their careers and living the life while young.   And both were on opposite sides of the table with the odds definitely against Chris the two have manage to flourish.

Now present, the only thing that they can’t have is each other, or is it what they seem to portray.   The two have been leading on the social network with a series of misleading flirts and taunts towards each other and there is no denying that, even Ray Charles would see past that bullshit.  And even though there are many who are against it, just because of the abuse history which in my mind can be forgiven, there are those who are for it as well, and not just because of the entertainment, the dram, or the paparazzi, but because it would just make sense for these two to play out there love and infatuation for each other.

Check out these dorks out on the same day going to the studio in some army fatigues on the same day in West Hollywood, CA both arriving with a friend on February 10, 2012… Just seems like everything coordinated to entertain of what the people want and what they really want.  Hmmmm!!!
