Katherine Heigl may be getting ready to check out, at last, from “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Citing sources, Entertainment Weekly reports that the ABC show’s creator, Shonda Rimes, has agreed to release Heigl from her contract; a final exit agreement still needs to be worked out.

Heigl had been on leave from the hit show while she tended to her film career as well as her newly- adopted daughter, Naleigh, but was scheduled to resume shooting episodes March 1.

EW.com reports the actress never appeared at the studio on or after that date, and she may end up not

shooting any additional episodes. An ABC rep declined to comment.

The rising star’s relationship with the series has been increasingly bumpy over the years. In 2008, Heigl pulled herself out of the running for the Emmys, complaining that that she wasn’t given any “material 

to warrant a nomination.”

Last summer, she told David Letterman that the “17-hour work day” on the show was “cruel and mean.”

For those who remember the recently formed girl group Girlicious alledgely member Natalie Meijer was found with 12 baggies of cocaine in purse during traffic stop, officers say. More below:

GLENDALE — A singer from the pop group Girlicious was arrested Tuesday night after police found more than a dozen individual packages of cocaine in her Gucci purse, officials said.

Natalie Mejia, 21, of Diamond Bar, was released Wednesday from the Glendale City Jail after posting a $30,000 bond, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Mejia and Peter Asencio, 28, of Burbank, were taken into custody shortly after 9:20 p.m., when police noticed a Ford Mustang speeding, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

The officer stopped the Mustang at Victory Boulevard and Winchester Avenue as it headed onto the Ventura (134) Freeway, he said.

Mejia, a passenger, was rushing to an airport, Lorenz said.

Mejia and her group were scheduled to perform Friday in Toronto.

Police searched the Mustang after discovering Asencio’s driver’s license was suspended, Lorenz said.

During the search, he said police found multiple individual baggies of cocaine in Mejia’s purse.

She and Asencio were immediately arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine for sale, Lorenz said. Asencio was also arrested on suspicion of driving on a suspended driver’s license. Asencio was also being held in jail in lieu of a $30,000 bond, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

A drug sales charge is based on the number of packages a person is carrying, Lorenz said. The more they have, the more likely they intend to distribute or sell the drugs, he said.

Mejia was cooperating with police, Lorenz said. Calls to Mejia’s publicist and record label, Universal Music Canada, were not returned Wednesday.

In 2008, Mejia was a contestant on the CW reality show, “Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious.”

Mejia beat out other contestants to become one of four members who made up the all-girl group.

While one of the group’s members reportedly had a falling out and recently left Girlicious, Mejia stayed on with the other members, Nichole Cordova and Chrystina Sayers.

Before joining Girlicious, she was a member of two pop groups, Cherri and Breathe.

She is scheduled to be arraigned April 15 in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Glendale.

James Brown’s body has been stolen, according to his reported love child LaRhonda Pettit.

The soul legend’s body was put in a crypt after his death on Christmas Day in 2006. Since then it has been kept at his daughter Deanna’s house in South Carolina while a public mausoleum was being prepared.

Pettit has now claimed the body has gone missing. Consequently, she says she is being denied the opportunity to carry out an autopsy to determine Brown’s true cause of death, reports the Daily Mirror.

“My daddy’s body has disappeared. I have no clue where it was taken, but I need to know where. I’m convinced his death was suspicious and I want the people responsible brought to justice. The only way to do that is to exhume his body and have an autopsy. I cannot understand why one was never conducted.”

Jay-Z, Hip hop Mogul, was on the scene yesterday for the ceremonial ground breaking of the new home of the NJ Nets (soon to be renamed the “Brooklyn Nets”) at Barclays Center at Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn yesterday. Beyonce was there to support her husband. Rev. Al Sharpton was also on the scene.

As many speculated Corey Haim death had to be the cause of an drug overdose; Corey mother’s released that the stars untimely death came from an enlarged heart and water filled in his lungs.  More details below:

Corey Haim died of pulmonary congestion, the actor’s mother confirmed to Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos.

Judy Haim told Maria that she received an early courtesy call from the LA County Coroner’s Office who told her that an autopsy found her son had an enlarged heart and his lungs were filled with water. His cause of death was due to pulmonary congestion.

The Coroner’s Office also told Access that prescription bottles containing four different medications were taken from his room. His mother and manager told the coroner’s office those medications were the only ones he was taking, but the coroner could not confirm if the medications were found in his body.

Hearing the commanding voice of Jay Electronica on the microphone, one probably couldn’t detect his New Orleans roots. Years ago, like many MCs from the South, Electronica experienced some hip-hop prejudice when people heard the Southern twang in his voice — so he started disguising it.

“I would go somewhere — I would go to an open mic and when they heard my accent and not understand what I’m saying, it would just be a door-closer,” Jay told MTV UK on a recent trip to Europe. “I made a point in being able to speak in a certain way that I wouldn’t get the door closed on me. All of these things make me who I am now, you know.

“I have to admit, you know, a few years ago, I wouldn’t have admitted this — or maybe I wouldn’t have been conscious of it in a way to admit or be embarrassed — but in my earlier years from when I first left home, I was embarrassed from being from the South,” he added. “Not in general, but as a rapper because all of the negative things that people in the States put on the South. Like, ‘The South, they’re slow. They move slow, they think slow, they’re less intelligent. They’re less exposed, they’re underexposed, they’re more sheltered.’ So as a rapper — I’ve been rapping since I was 10 years old — I always had a feeling of ‘I’m gonna show you’ because we down here doing it. Not that I was embarrassed necessarily — I don’t know if that’s the correct word — but I know that when I left home, if someone had heard my accent and heard where I was from, the door was immediately closed.”

Electronica said he had to adapt and become a chameleon on the mic. While trying to break into the music industry, he moved between different cities such as New York, Atlanta and Chicago.

“I kind of stiff-armed my roots for a couple of years,” the Brooklyn transplant continued of his journey. “Then my sister told me one day, ‘You know, you act like you’re ashamed of being from home.’ It was like a reality check. I checked myself. I mean, this is years ago, but now I’m at a place where I understand where I’m from. I understand my culture and I’m more proud to be from there than associate with somewhere else.”

Despite trying to hide his roots early on, Jay thinks back to the early days of New Orleans hip-hop with a smile.

“I’m from New Orleans and there’s a certain type of music,” he explained. “I come from a bounce culture — bounce music. You been to New Orleans a couple times, you probably heard of the bounce music. It’s a part of me; I grew up with bounce music. It’s call-and-response, it’s trance, it’s tribal, it’s communal, it’s African, it’s based in Africa … the energy of it.”

SandraRose: On Monday, Rapper Lil Wayne began serving a 12 month sentence for weapons possession at NY’s infamous Riker’s Island prison. With rumors of gang threats against his life weighing heavy on his mind, Wayne made the brave decision to mingle with the prison population rather than accept a cell on an isolaton ward.

Still, according to a Riker’s guard who spoke with blogger Combat Jack, Wayne has been receiving special treatment from Riker’s corrections officers, two of whom have already been written up for bending the prison’s rules for Weezy:

“…A couple of guards have been written up, only because they’ve acted like fans, having more personal interaction with Wayne than is procedure, prolly acting all star struck, which, once again, the system does it’s best to discourage… For the most part though, Wayne has been pretty quiet, staying mostly inside his jail cell. There doesn’t seem to be anyone, any faction trying to get at him in any harmful way, because he’s new and because he hasn’t violated any of the codes customary to inmate living the prison life. As I was told, it’s too early to determine how the rest of his experience will be, but so far, so good. It’s all in Lil Wayne’s hands.“

The guard also said the prison has been inundated with calls from Wayne’s camp questioning if the prison will force Wayne to cut his dreads. Prison officials say that as long as Wayne’s dreads are real (and he keeps them neat and clean) they won’t be chopped off. Hopefully, they’re real.

The NY prison system provides barbers and beauticians for the inmates to keep them looking presentable free of charge.

“Our Family Wedding” Movie premiered in New York City. On Tuesday night, March 9, a number of celebrities were spotted hitting the red carpet at AMC Loews Lincoln Square to support the event. America Ferrera, Lance Gross, Forest Whitaker, Diana-Maria Riva and Charlie Murphy as well as director Rick Famuyiwa were at the event.

For all my geeks and my 80’s babies that watch this movie over and over on Sunday afternoon, TRON Legacy is coming to theaters 2010 in Disney Digital 3D.  For those that don’t know, this is a classic that really never made any sense but was dope because of the transformation and the cool motorcycles that they were able to transform in.  I definitely got to check it out.
