According to TMZ Lauryn Hill filed legal documents claiming “she withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family.”
Lauryn has requested no there be no jail time, pointing out she would be able to pay off her debt quicker if she is allowed to remain free.
Lauryn Hill owes taxes and penalties on the $1.8 million she earned over 2005, 2006, and 2007. Hill, who was released on bail in June 2012, is also requesting the court to “take into consideration [that] it would be much easier to pay back taxes if she is placed on probation and continued to work.”
The judge on Lauryn Hill’s case is expected to rule on April 22.
