Ball Till You Fall, Money Aint a Thing, Sixty Stacks in my Pocket and YOLO is the motto!! You may have your mind on your money and money on your mind, but that champagne taste on a beer budget will leave you broke and disillusioned and in case no one has ever told you, “Aint No Future In Frontin!!
Not too long ago hard work and dedication warranted not only respect, but also success. it was a very simple formula, “you work hard and your efforts would be rewarded”. Those were the days when brands like Chanel, Hermes and YSL just to name a few were EXCLUSIVE. Exclusive as in only those that had established financial stability and or wealth were seen rocking these labels. Once one attained that level of success, labels were a walking billboard that said “I’m rich bitch” or “I’ve made it”… An exclusive bag or briefcase was gifted as a college graduation gift; a high end suit or pair of pumps were the rewards of one’s first salary job… Those were the days…
That was way back when, before MySpace, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and before reality TV and their pseudo celebrities. Way back when the American Dream was a Home not a 50 bedroom mansion.
Social networking has given way to a new age of self-absorbed folks whom mask their insecurities with false material wealth and turn their popularity into celebrity status. These Twitter, Instagram “celebs” are just a symptom of how dysfunctional our society has become as we place more value on “things” than character. The jokes on us, because it’s clearly a case of smoke and mirrors and things are not always what they appear to be… It’s easy to be rich, hot and popping, behind a screen name and some photos, but at some point you’ll have to face your reality…
These days you’re not hot unless you have the newest pair of J’s, a closet full of Louboutin’s (including men) and enough designer bags and attire to open a boutique. According to the photos on Instagram everyone is wealthy, because all I see all day everyday is a gross display of narcissism with a bunch of questionable folks, young and old with thousands and thousands of dollars worth of high-end shoes, bags, cars, luxury homes, private jets, black cards… Really now?? What is it that you do for a living?

It’s become more important to appear to have money than to be humble and work hard to get it… Why does posting pictures of Hermes shopping bags earn a person that doesn’t even have a job respect?? Probably, because we are an instant gratification society, we want what others have, we want what we see and we want it now… be clear that it’s not just a black or a minority problem, it’s clearly a societal problem; fronting that is… I mean take a look at the numerous reality tv personalities that have gone bankrupt trying to portray a wealthy image and lifestyle that was beyond their means…

I won’t sit and pretend that I don’t like nice things, diamond rings and designer names, because I do; I love them, but the thrill for me is setting a goal, working hard and rewarding myself. I do not live beyond my means and my self worth is not placed upon the material items that I own and I am trying to teach my children the same things, because AINT NO FUTURE IN FRONTIN!!
