In connection with the last weekend of the exhibition Keith Haring: 1978–1982, the Museum showcases performers and activities that bring to life the vibrant New York scene that inspired Haring. Highlights include:
5–7 p.m. Music
Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor
Brooklyn-based Mon Khmer performs avant-garde new wave, and hip-hop artist Mickey Factz takes listeners on a journey into 1980s New York’s downtown art scene.
5–8 p.m. Interactive Activity

Contribute to a sidewalk chalk art mural inspired by Keith Haring: 1978–1982.
5:30–9:30 p.m. Gallery Talks
Throughout the Museum
Museum Guides and staff present lively ten-minute discussions of beloved objects throughout the galleries.

The Hip-Hop Dance Conservatory presents a performance of artistic director Safi A. Thomas’s My Ghetto Pop Life: A Dream Sequence. A Q&A with company members follows. Free tickets available at the Visitor Center at 5 p.m.

Jim Hubbard screens selections from his recent documentary United in Anger: A History of ACT UP and discusses Keith Haring’s participation in the AIDS activist group. Free tickets available at the Visitor Center at 6 p.m.
7–8:30 p.m. Live Painting Performance

New York-based artists compete in live painting performance hosted by ArtBattles, the original international painting competition.
8:30–10 p.m. Dance Party

Justin Strauss, former DJ of New York’s legendary Mudd Club, spins old and new house music.
9 p.m. Music
Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor
The all-girl band Plastiq Passion blends New Wave and punk, with a modern edge.
9 p.m. Book Club
Luce Center for American Art, 5th Floor
Designer and stylist Maripol will discuss her book Little Red Riding Hood and the 1980s New York art scene, as well as her experience designing some of Madonna’s signature looks.
10–11 p.m. Late Night in the Galleries
