The rapper, born Dwayne Carter Jr., appeared in a Manhattan courtroom on Monday (March 
where he was placed in handcuffs and taken into custody to start serving his term immediately. He plead guilty in October to attempted gun possession and admitted to having a loaded weapon on his tour bus in 2007.
The Grammy winner
will serve his time in a city jail as opposed to a state prison and could be released in around eight months with good behavior.
